Webby's Infamous "Char
Tag" Tutorial
This tutorial was created with Paint Shop Pro 5, but the steps can be adapted to all versions of PSP.
Okay, you will need the following for this tag:
Okay here goes,
start with a transparent image, and give yourself enough room
to work, we will crop and reduce the file size later. I am starting
with 600 Width x 200 Height. Okay, Now with your ants dancing around your name, create a 2nd new image 100 x 100, make this one your foreground color. Now select CPK Designs > Instant background for your 2nd image. I used the defaults, but you can change the settings if ya like. For those of you without this filter, open the file from the zip named CharTag005-back.jpg, this is the image you will see below.
Okay now flood
fill this new pattern you just made into your name with the dancing
ants. To do this select the paint can
Make sure your "fill style" is on PATTERN, and then go to OPTIONS and select your newly created background pattern (it should be the very bottom selection). It will display an image copy so you can be sure. It will then show:
Okay, now flood fill the text with this by selecting the tag you were working on with the dancing ants. Mine looks like this now:
Okay, we now have some cool color! I like the effect of the Outer Bevel on Eye Candy, so that is what I am gonna use. Here are the setting in Eye Candy I used:
And here
is what it looks like now:
Okay, get rid of those ants now. Click on SELECTIONS > SELECT NONE, and your ants should be gone. Now we are ready to add our tubes. Both of the "Suzy's Zoo" tubes are attached. Find spots for both your tubes, and resize to the appropriate size also! Here is mine:
Okay it is SPARKLE TIME! This is a sparkle tube I colorized, I just love it. It is called Sparkles-YWN001.psp. Open this in PSP (resize if necessary) then select EDIT > COPY, now go back to the tag you have been creating, and select EDIT > PASTE AS A NEW LAYER (This will allow you to move it exactly where ya want it!). Then go to LAYERS > MERGE VISIBLE Put them anywhere you want! Here's mine:
I am ready for a little bit of shadow on mine. Make sure your background color is black or whatever color you want your shadow to appear as. (IMAGE > EFFECTS >DROP SHADOW). My settings are:
Okay, if ya need to crop your tag, otherwise we are almost done. Select LAYERS > MERGE ALL FLATTEN. Now we can buttonize (IMAGE > EFFECTS > BUTTONIZE). Here again are my settings:
Okay, time to sign and save your work and we are all done! If ya want, you can reduce the image size (IMAGE > RESIZE) and then EFFECTS > SHARPEN > SHARPEN.
